Radiation protection at the Frascati neutron generator
Description
The paper presents the radiation project for the D-T Frascati Neutron Generator (FNG) of the ENEA, which has been submitted to the italian regulatory authority examination, has ben approved and is now nearly completed. Planned and potential exposure situations are described and the consequent system of protection is compared with that exposed in the revised basic recommendations of the ICRP. The technical characteristics of the FNG, the results of the calculation performed for shield design and activation evaluation are reported considering typical applications and material composition of the generator, together with a schematic design of the plant layout.
