Development of evaluation techniques for bituminous products in radioactive waste solidification

Description
The basic physical and analytical methods are summed up of the evaluation of bituminous products, which are needed for the development of the technology of bituminization of low- and intermediate-level radioactive liquid wastes from nuclear power plants with WWER-440 reactors. The techniques for determining rheological properties, ash content, particle size of fixed salts, water content, salt leachability, leachability of radionuclides, softening point and point of penetration were developed mainly with regard to practical application in the operation of a bituminization line.
