Radiation polymerization of acetaldehyde in glassy matrix. Autowave regime of polymerization initiated by brittle fracture at 77 K

Description
Glassy solutions of acetaldehyde (AA) in butyl chloride (BC) are prepared, and autowave regime of radiation postpolymerization (γ-radiation at 77 K, the dose rate 33 Gy/s) initiated by brittle fracture is realized. Polymer yield during devitrification increases by increase of preliminary γ-radiation dose and at 120 kGy (the weight ratio in a solution is AA:BC=1:4) attains approximately 100%. The AA radiation polymerization proceeds by cation mechanism
