Description
99mTc-HM-PAO SPECT study with a rotating scintilation camera of all purpose low energy collimator was performed in cases of cerebrovascular diseases and the results were correlated with those of Xe-CT study. The materials consisted of 11 cases of CVD as verified by SPECT study. SPECT images by this method disclosed a similar distribution as compared with the Xe-CT flow maps and there were significant correlations between the count rate of affected vs non-affected hemispheres and the ratio of CBF of the same region (p<0.01). As to the sensitivity of detecting ischemic lesions this method tended to identify them in wider range and vice versa in hemorrhagic lesions narrower range. The reason of this discrepancy may be attributed to the sensitivity of spatial resolution of this method in proper but also to possible low sensitivity of HM-PAO to identify lesions of slightly low perfusion as observed in hemorrhagic CVD.
