Description

Advanced ultrasonic examination methods and signal processing techniques were evaluated for their effectiveness in discriminating intergranular stress corrosion cracks (IGSCC) from geometric reflectors in assembled generator rotor retaining rings. Three of the approaches investigated - mode converted longitudinal wave imaging, time-of-flight tip diffraction (TOFD), and feature analysis of conventional shear interrogation - are shown to enhance target identification
