The examination of an electromagnetic sampling pump from FFTF [Fast Flux Test Facility] primary circuit

Description

On November 16, 1984 a leak was discovered in the Fast Flux Test Facility (FFTF) Primary Sodium Sampling System electromagnetic pump. The leak was discovered in the course of routine cell entry to investigate a shorted trace heat element. The purpose of this paper is to describe the circumstances surrounding the occurrence of the leak, the process involved which caused the leak and efforts taken to minimize their effects on future operation of electromagnetic pumps at FFTF. The relative ease of recovery from this incident is indicative of the overall feasibility of the LMR concept
