Description

The differential cross sections of elastic and inelastic (to the 3+ level) scattering of protons and antiprotons by the 6Li nucleus are calculated on the basis of the Glauber-Sitenko diffraction theory. Several versions of 6Li dynamic wave functions used in calculations are determined on the basis of the three-body α + n + p model. It is shown that this model satisfactorily describes the experimental proton scattering cross sections measured at Saclay at energies ranging from 185 MeV to 1 GeV. The α + n + p model is therefore expected to provide reliable predictions for the cross sections of antiproton scattering by the same nucleus over a wide energy range. The contributions to scattering cross sections of various components of the wave function of the target nucleus, of the various projections of its orbital angular momentum, and of the real and imaginary parts of the NN scattering amplitude are also analyzed. It is shown that partial filling of the diffraction minimum in the cross section is due to both the D-wave contribution to elastic scattering and to the real part of the NN scattering amplitude. 26 refs., 7 figs., 2 tabs
