  • 1. AN SSSR, Chernogolovka. Inst. Fiziki Tverdogo Tela

Description

Molybdenum oxoiodides of MoO2I and Mo4O11I composition are prepared in the process of molybdenum triiodide oxydation.MoO2I is the product of MoI3 oxydation during heating in the air up to 475 deg K, while Mo4O11I, up to 590 deg K. Both iodides are crystallized in a monoclinic crystal system with parameters: a=15.88, b=3.58, c=8.33A, β=99.7 deg (MoO2I) and a=15.77, b=3.651, c=7.6 A, β=97 deg (Mo4O11I). MoO2I and Mo4O11I are stable in the air but being heated in vacuum in the 473-873 deg K decompose with iodide formation
