Description
The magnitudes, ellipticities and position angles of the major axes of galaxies in the cluster A 1983 (N=150, S=0.23 sq. degrees) are determined. For the parameters of the Abell luminosity function the values of s1=0.80, s2=0.27, Mpg=-20.0 are derived. No alignment of the galaxy major axes in the cluster was observed
