Status and Selected Physics Results of the ATLAS Experiment

Description

Full text: The ATLAS experiment is a general-purpose detector located in one of the four interaction points of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. In 2010 LHC has been colliding proton beams at the unprecedented centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. This year's run at the same energy has started mid March, and it is expected that LHC will deliver a substantial amount of integrated luminosity during this year. In this talk, a survey of the status of the ATLAS detector and its operational efficiency will be presented. The main results in pp collisions, including the study of jets, W/Z, top, Higgs, SUSY, and first searches for new physics will be reviewed. (author)
