X-ray microtomography (μCT) using interferometric phase contrast

Description
Phase-contrast tomography is capable of characterizing organic tissues, e.g., rat trigenimal nerve or brain matter by accurate measurement of mass density ρm. The presently attained accuracy is of the order of 10-3 relative. Aspects of importance for reaching this accuracy are discussed. We found an influence on the phase-measuring interferometer through heating caused by absorption of x-ray photons from the synchrotron radiation beam. Means to avoid this source of error are described
