Description
This paper reports on simple three point bending tests with the LCT-Euratom superconductor and with structural parts of a circular cross section type conductor. For the LCT conductor, the mechanical limitation and the failure criteria are investigated, and data on lap joint tests on individual strands is given. The bending behavior of a tubular conductor imbedded in a two-segment GFRP-jacket is described. The influence of this jacket during bending is outlined, and its capability to control the residual strains remaining in the superconductor after plastic bending and elastic springback is discussed
