Estimation of environmental situation in the Tashkent district using nuclear analytical techniques

  • 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics, Tashkent (Uzbekistan)

Description

Full text: Generalized information of territories contamination is extremely important for the inhabitants' health protection. Anthropogenic contamination of the environment by heavy metals may be the reason for negative impact on the inhabitants' health status. It is connected with disbalance of elements in soil, water, air, which may impact on human elemental status. It is known that elevated intake of some elements as well as deficient intake impact on elemental homeostasis and health. Task of the present study was elaboration of strategy and methodology for creation of medico-environmental 'portrait' of Tashkent district. There was prepared a list of bioenvironmental samples to be analyzed, geography of sampling and analytical procedures to be used. This task is very complicated and application of the nuclear analytical techniques has serious advantages by its multi elemental pattern, high sensitivity and independence on type of analyzed materials. Carried out analyzes of air, soil, drinking water and human hair as an indicator of human elemental status allowed us to estimate the environmental situation in the Tashkent district, to find unfavorable areas, to draw maps of elements distribution and to compare results obtained with medical statistics.
