Description

The magnetic properties of Gd6Mn23Hx, with 0.5% Fe substituted on Mn sites and x=0 and 25, were investigated by Moessbauer spectroscopy between 1.5 K and 490 K. The 155Gd(86.5 keV)-resonance monitors the magnetic and electronic properties of the Gd sublattice, indicating strong changes upon hydrogenation. The 57Fe(14.4 keV)-resonance displays the different magnetic properties of the Mn f1.2- and d-sites. In the hydrogenated sample with x=25, the Mn sublattice orders at ≅200 K, while the Gd sublattice, as revealed by the 155Gd-spectra, is ordered at least up to 30 K. (orig.)
