The use of metronidazole as a radiosensitizer of tumors in clinical practice

Description
A review of literature on the problems of clinical study of methods of intake and toxicity of metronidazole is given in the first part of the review. Most of the researchers stress the advantage of combined metronidazole intake for account of reduction of a number and weakening of heaviness of its toxic manifestations. The study of sensitizing effect of metronidazole in case of radiotherapy of patients with a number of malignant neoplasms is discussed in the second part of the review. It is pointed oUt that clinical confirmation of radiosensitizing effect of metronidazole on the tumors of different localization is obtained. The preliminary results testify to the prospects of continuation of the study of metronidazole in clinical practice
