Expected rate of transient events from stellar deaths in other galaxies
Description
The -ray bursts from the Vela satellites are discussed. The frequency and distribution in the sky are shown to be consistent with their being extragalactic, and that interpretation provides the constraint ν (γ)/ν/sub SN/(E48/3.5)3/2approx. =1
