A boron nitride scintillation converter for neutron radiography

  • 1. Nagoya Univ.

Description

The high sensitivity of fluorescent converters is important if one is to successfully use neutron sources that are not as strong as those of nuclear reactors. New fluorescent converters made of boron nitride (BN) were fabricated and tested. The sensitivity of the BN converter remains about 1/20 that of the NE426, a commonly used Nuclear Enterprises Scintillator, but the image quality is superior. Good quality neutron radiographs and neutron television images have been obtained with the new converters
