Correlation of textural and microstructural changes in deformed molybdenum single crystals
Description
Textural and microstructural changes occurring in deformed molybdenum crystals oriented for (001)[110], (001)[100], (110)[001] and (110)[1 anti 1 0] plane strain compression have been correlated by X-ray pole figures and transmission electron microscopy. The first two orientations are stable up to compressive strains as large as approximately 80%, while the last two are unstable. Activated slip vectors have also been ascertained and correlated with those expected on the basis of the Taylor--Bishop--Hill approach. In addition, deformation-induced cell walls and boundaries have been observed in the last three orientations. Arguments have been developed to rationalize their formation
