Study of cosmic ray N component with the chacaltaya chamber No. 16

Description
The nuclear reaction in the emulsion chamber No. 16 exposed on Mt. chacaltaya (5,200 m) has been analyzed to study the characteristics of nuclear-active-component of cosmic ray. This emulsion chamber have two layers. The upper layer is 44.2 m2 in area, and contains 12 cascade unit lead producer. The lower layer is 33.0 m2 in area, and contains 30 cascade unit lead producer. For single nuclear-active-component, the production depth distribution, the zenith angle distribution and the energy spectrum were measured. These results are consistent with the previous ones. For bundle nuclear-active-component, the multiplicity distribution, the energy spectrum and the relative distance distribution were measured. (Yoshimori, M.)
