Description

The development of a Water Cooled Ceramic Breeder (WCCB) Test Blanket Module (TBM) is being performed as one of the most important steps toward fusion DEMO reactor in Japan. As for the ITER-TBM program, the conceptual design of WCCB-TBM system has been approved through design review by the ITER organization, and the activity for preliminary design phase has started. On the other hand, R&D on the module fabrication technology including breeder and multiplier pebble as well as structural design activities has been performed for DEMO blanket. This paper provides an overview of the recent achievements of the development of the WCCB Blanket system in Japan.
