Description

It is shown that using beating between a laser wave and an undulator in presence of a relativistic electron beam, inside a background plasma, can generate high amplitude electron waves suited to subsequently accelerate electrons up to high energies. Acceleration gradients of order 1 G.e.V./m are obtained with moderate laser intensities. (author). 15 refs.; 8 figs.; 3 tabs
