High energy superconducting cyclotrons

  • 1. TRIUMF, Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver (Canada)

Description

A two-stage superconducting ring cyclotron could accelerate 400 μA proton beams from TRIUMF to approximately 9 GeV for a kaon-neutrino factory. The field of the superconducting magnets has been accurately computed and the orbit properties investigated. Studies are reported of beam behaviour near major radial resonances, of the tolerances these require, and of techniques for pulsed operation for neutrino physics
