Some problems for constructing of circulation superconducting magnetic systems
Description
Some problems of creation of circulation super-conducting magnetic systems (CSMS) are studied. The tests have been performed for two systems: model solenoid and circulation magnetic system (CMS-0.25). Test results of the two CSMS have shown that heat-evolutions associated with the mechanical displacement of the system elements are the most important source of disturbances. Redistribution of current in discrete steps along the busbar is also considered as a source of heat-evolutions. The pulse-like nature of the two types of disturbances hampers their suppression. Eddy-current losses in the busbar have proved much lower. A possibility is shown as to the accurate detection both of the individual pulsed disturbances and of their total value with discompensation signal integration and flow rate variation. Utilization of the helium two-phase current in case of CSMS cooling is regarded as possible. To eliminate disturbances related to the current redistribution along the section of the current-carrying element it is recommended to make use of current-carrying elements with transportation or twisting of super-conducting cores
