Thermodynamic explanation of eliminating platinum inclusions in laser glass by POCl3 gas bubbling

Description
The mechanism of eliminating platinum inclusions in laser glass by POCl3 gas bubbling has been discussed from thermodynamic aspects in the present paper. It is deduced from calculated reaction free energy that the platinum inclusion is ionized after POCl3 gas bubbling in the existence of water and oxygen. The platinum inclusion is dissolved as platinum(II) metaphosphate in the laser glass matrix
