Relationship between spectroscopic data and thermodynamic functions; application to uranium, plutonium, and thorium oxide vapor species
Description
The relationship between thermodynamic functions derived from experimentally measured pressures and those calculated from spectroscopic data was examined quantiatively for the cases of UO, UO2, UO3, PuO, PuO2, ThO, and ThO2. Limitations have been determined for consistent values of p(UO2) over UO2(s), ΔH0sub(UO2,0 K), p(UO) over UO2(s) + U(l), ΔH0 (0 K) for 1/2 UO2(s) + 1/2 U(e) → UO(g), ΔG0sub(f)(UO,g), ΔH0sub(f)(UO, g, 0 K), D0(UO, g 0 K), ΔG0sub(f)(UO3, g), ΔH0sub(f)(UO3, g, 0 K), the heat of atomization of UO3, ΔG0sub(f)(PuO2, g), ΔH0sub(f)(PuO2, g, 298.15 K), ΔG0sub(f)(PuO, g), ΔH0sub(f)(PuO, g, 298.15 K), ΔG0sub(f)(ThO, g), ΔH0sub(f)(ThO, g, 218.15 K), ΔG0sub(f)(ThO, g), ΔH0sub(f)(ThO2, g, 298.15 K), ΔH0sub(ThO2, 298.15 K), and the sublimation pressure of ThO2.
