Computer model for the UO2 elastic modulus

Creators

Description

Young's modulus for UO2 is calculated as a function of porosity and temperature. The data support the assumption of a linear decrease in Young's modulus with both increasing temperature and increasing porosity. Young's modulus for UO2 is represented by E = 2.26 x 1011 (1 - 1.131 x 10-4 T)(1 - 2.62(1-D)) where E = Young's modulus (Pascals), T = temperature (C) (range 0 to 13000C), and D = fraction of theoretical density. This equation has a standard deviation with respect to experimental UO2 data of +-0.037 x 1011 Pascals
