Measurement of lifetime of nucleus high-energy states, excited in (n, γ) reactions by thermal neutrons

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev (Ukraine). Inst. Yadernykh Issledovanij

Description

A new method for measuring lifetimes of nucleus excited states is developed. Lifetimes of more that 25 excited states in 25Mg, 28Al, 29Si, 32P, 33S, 55Fe and 58Fe are determined for the first time. Measurement of lifetime of nucleus high energy states, excited in (n, γ) reactions on thermal neutrons is performed according to the method based on the observation of the Doppler shift attenuation. The recoil nucleus movement is caused by primary γ-quantum emission after thermal neutron capture by the nucleus. 9 refs.; 4 tabs
