Optimization of process parameters for the sintering of MOX fuel
Description
The quality of MOX fuel is strongly influenced by the sintering process. For this reason experiments have been carried out in a batch-type laboratory scale sintering furnace to determine the optimal process parameters. It has been proved that good and stable quality in the fuel can be obtained with relatively short sintering times with an adequate temperature profile and gas humidification adapted to the actual partial process. The most essential results are transfered to the routine fabrication of MOX fuel for Light-Water Reactors. (orig.)
