Description

The microstructure and mechanical properties of the base metal, heat-affected zone (HAZ) and weld metal for submerged arc welding (SAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) of a Chinese steel, Q235A have been investigated. Microstructure of the base metal. HAZ and weld metal have been characterized employing optical and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The microstructural variations were corrected with limited mechanical property data. Microhardness variation have been studied for base metal. HAZ and weld microstructure. Mechanical properties have been determined by tensile, and Charpy impact tests. (author)
