Comparison of collective dose values for shipment of spent fuel by rail and road modes

Description
The shipment of spent nuclear fuel is undertaken through various modes of transport. The preferred modes for transport of spent fuel in India are rail and road. The paper compares the collective dose values resulting from a given shipment undertaken through rail and road modes and recommends the safer mode for transport of spent nuclear fuel, which will cause less population exposure.
