Annual review of the Institute of Plasma Physics, Nagoya University, for fiscal 1984
Description
The Institute started the research on reacting plasma as the main project in the third period research plan. Effort has been exerted to ensure the public acceptance of the research on fusion plasma and to smoothly move the Institute from the Higashiyama campus to the new site in Toki City. The purchase of 5 ha of land in fiscal year 1985 was approved preliminarily. Following the three-year preparatory program from 1981 to 1983, the Institute organized the collaboration research program on the design study of reacting plasma devices, the experiment on high temperature plasma, the basic experiment on plasma physics and the theory and computation. The extension of the Technical Division and the Computer Center was steadily advanced, and it was proposed to organize the Fusion and Plasma Diagnostic Center. The Research Information Center was active in the compilation, evaluation and dissemination of scientific information required for fusion research. Under the US-Japan fusion cooperation program, the RTNS-2 collaboration was continued, and the TEXTOR international collaboration under the IEA agreement was carried out. The sixth international conference on plasma-surface interaction in controlled fusion devices was held. The scientific activities on the above program are reported. (Kako, I.)
