Description

The stannide NdRhSn was synthesized from the elements in a sealed tantalum tube. The structure was investigated on the basis of X-ray powder and single crystal data: ZrNiAl type, P6-bar 2m, a=741.3(1), c=412.90(9)pm, wR2=0.0266, 354 F2 values and 14 variable parameters. The neodymium atoms fill distorted hexagonal channels within the three-dimensional [RhSn] network. The magnetic and electronic properties of NdRhSn have been studied by means of AC and DC magnetic susceptibility measurements as well as 119Sn Moessbauer spectroscopy. A transition from a paramagnetic to a ferromagnetic state was found at TC=10.3K
