Measuring plasma parameters via electromagnetic wave injection: from average values to turbulence

Description

This paper presents different aspects of plasma diagnostics by electromagnetic wave injection: the macroscopic quantities that can be measured, the most adequate parameters of the diagnostic to access the macroscopic value, the validity domain of the diagnostic and the role of computerized simulation in the setting of the diagnostic. For instance the Thomson scattering of a laser beam by the plasma is used to measure plasma electron density and electron temperature via respectively the dissipation power and the spectrum of the scattered wave.
