Solar thermocell with low-bandgap photoheated layers

Description
Using an energy band diagram, the action of a thermocell is considered and the approximate values of its volumetric and barrier electromotive force are determined. A solar thermocell with low-bandgap photo-heated layers, which performs conversion between radiant and electric energy, is proposed. An approximate estimate of its limiting efficiency is given.
