Description
To investigate the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP) accident's radiological effect on marine ecosystem, ash samples of squids from the western Pacific Ocean were collected in May 2014 and measured using an underground gamma-ray spectrometer in the underground laboratory JinPing. Low levels of 108mAg, 110mAg, 134Cs and 137Cs were detected, which indicates that the influence of the FDNPP accident on marine ecosystem is lasting but decreasing. - Highlights: • Artificial radionuclides in squids from the western Pacific Ocean were investigated after the Fukushima Nuclear Accident. • Measurements were conducted by the low background gamma ray spectrometer at China JinPing underground laboratory (CJPL). • A comparative measurement with a ground gamma ray spectrometer was studied. • The specific radioactivities of the studied radionuclides in squids had decreased in 2014 to the levels before the accident.
