Nuclear energy in France

Description

Lack of domestic fossil fuel resources has forced France to pin its hopes on nuclear power. This paper describes the French nuclear programme, the structure of the nuclear industry, progress made and future objectives. Some cost estimates for nuclear power relative to other fuel sources are presented and the effects of the nuclear programme on France's import dependency considered. (author)
