Prostatic carcinoma. Diagnostic and stating: MR imaging

Description
Prostatic carcinoma is the second most commun cause of cancer death over 60 years. It is suspected by digital examination and prostatic specific antigen dosage. Transrectal ultrasound shows the tumor as an hypoechoic lesion. Sensitivity is good but specificity is low. Transrectal biopsy of prostate guided by transrectal ultrasound made the diagnosis. At present, MR Imaging is the most accurate diagnostic modality for loco-regional staging of prostatic carcinoma
Abstract (French)
Le cancer de la prostate est la seconde cause de mortalite chez l'homme apres 60 ans. Il est suspecte par l'examen clinique (toucher rectal) et biologique (dosage PSA). L'echographie endorectale visualise la tumeur sous forme d'une zone hypoechogene. Elle est sensible mais peu specifique. Elle permet la ponction-biopsie prostatique guidee. Actuellement l'IRM apparait l'examen le plus efficace pour le bilan loco-regionalAdditional details
