Description

A part from statistical regularities in the formation of charge carriers in detectors, the electric noise of the preselector stage of the electronic system primarily contributes to the energy resolution of spectrometers. From the equivalent circuit of this preselector stage and from the transfer function of the electronic system, relations are derived for the half-width as a measure of energy resolution and evaluated with the aid of a practical example. From the discussion of results conclusions are drawn for the choice of the transfer function. (author)
