Micronucleus frequency - a prospective measure of radiation induced damage in tumour cells

Description
Micronuclei form following the irradiation of proliferating cells. Micronuclei appear 2 to 3 hours after irradiation and their number increases with post-irradiation time. The occurrence of micronuclei may be used as the measure of radiation damage. The micronucleus test may be used as a cytogenetic test and as a test of radiation effects in the radiotherapy of tumors.
