Description
Some new ternary uranium selenides including CrUSe3, VUSe3 and CoUSe3 have been recently isolated in the system USe2-MSe (M = 3d element). They are isomorphous to the sulfide CrUS3. Thet wo first compounds have a quite similar magnetic behaviour to that of CrUS3 as shown by magnetization measurements in magnetic fields up to 150 koe. On the other hand, the magnetic properties of CoUSe3 are very different; this selenide has the highest Curie point ever found for an uranium compound and exhibits an unusual thermal variation of the spontaneous magnetization which undergoes a rapid change in the region of 500K.
