Automatic system for determination of charged particle trajectories in a magnetic field

Description
A system for automatic determination of charged particle trajectories in a magnetic field by the method of current-carrying flexible wire is discussed. Fast measurement of the great number of trajectories with a root-mean-square error of no more than 10-3 is attained dUe to automation of all measurement process operations, and to on-line operation with a compUter. The method is based on the coincidence of the position occupied in the magnetic field by a conductor with current I, with the trajectory of a particle whose momentum is related to the current and tension T of the filament by the ratio P=cgT/I, where c is the velocity of light, g is the gravitational acceleration. Flowsheet of the system and the equipment set are given, and the results of its usage in the output channel of the Erevan synchrotron are presented
