Plasma productions and heatings by charged particle-beams injected on solid targets
Description
The plasma productions and subsequent heatings of plasmas, are studied numerically by a simple model when intense charged particle-beams of electrons and protons are bombarded on solid targets. The materials of the targets are solid-deuterium, polyethylene with replacement of hydrogen atoms by deuteron atoms, and gold. The incident kinetic energies of the beam-particles are in the range between 1 kev and 1 Mev. The ionization lengths of the targets, average temperatures of produced plasmas, heating and other efficiencies are calculated as functions of the kinetic energies. (author)
