Installation and testing of the JT-60 machine

  • 1. Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, Naka-machi, Naka-gun, Ibaraki-ken, 310-11

Description

The installation of the JT-60 machine started on the site in February 1983 immediately after the experimental building had been finished and successfully completed almost on schedule. The successful installation of the JT-60 machine made possible the start in December 1984 of the power tests with the power suppliers connected to the coils and the first plasma on April 8, 1985. The present paper is concerned with the installation and the testing before the power test. A brief description of the JT-60 machine major components is first described. The work carried out during the installation on the site is summarized and the assembly procedure is given. An overview of the test for the quality assurance carried out from the beginning of the assembly to the power test and their results are presented
