Calculations of equilibrium constants of Cl and F interactions with Xe on the basis of experimental potential curves

Description

Equilibrium constants of the reactions Xe + Cl --><-- XeCl (X), XE + Cl --><-- XeCl (A2P3/2) and Xe + F --><-- XeF (X) in the temperature range of 100-1000 K were calculated on the basis of experimental potential curves obtained from spectroscopic measurements and as a result of experiments on scattering in crossed atomic beams. In particular, at T = 295 K the values of equilibrium constants of the above-mentioned processes constitute 3.0-x10-22; 1.1x10-22 and 2.5x10-32 cm 3 respectively. Interrelation between equilibrium constant of XeCl(X) formation and the ratio of contributions of bound-bound and free-bound transitions to the absorption spectrum of the excimer molecule was considered
