Classification of Ion Sources

  • 1. European Organization for Nuclear Research, Geneva (Switzerland)

Description

In this chapter, the anatomy of an ion source is briefly described, as well as a few features of particle motion in electric and magnetic fields, and of particle dynamics and plasmas. Using this information, different types of ion sources are described, highlighting their main mode of operation. (author)
