Description

Radioactive liquid waste containing large amounts of sodium nitrate is generated from nuclear facility. Preliminary safety evaluation was carried out be using simulated wastes in order to evaluate the safety in drying such liquid wastes and solidifying it with plastics. As a result, it was judged that both the pure dried waste and the mixture of it and plastics had sensitivity against thermal action to a certain extent, and the latter was more sensitive than the former. Therefore, it is necessary to take care of the sensitivity against thermal action in conditioning the waste of high sodium nitrate content
