Effect of hydrostatic compression on the photoluminescence of Cd1-xMnxTe solid solutions

Description

Photoluminescence spectra of Cd1-xMnxTe in 0.25≤x≤0.7 range in case of hydrostatic compression P up to 30 kbar and T=2 and 77K are investigated. It is shown that the luminescence intensity decrease of Cd1-xMnxTe with the compression increase can be associated with formation of new recombination channels, especially in the area of phase transitions, one of which occurs at P=30 kbar. In the case of this transformation followed by a considerable lattice volume reduction, the crystal changes its colour and luminescence disappears. When the crystal is relieved, luminescence appears again, but it is twice weaker than the initial one indicating only partial reconstruction of the original sample symmetry
