Alloying element effects on formation of Laves phase, σ-phase, R-phase during ageing of BCC-Fe base multicomponent alloys. Communication 2. Phase composition and thermodynamic parameters of solid solutions

Description

To study the influence of alloying elements on the process of ageing with intermetallic phase formation in BCC-Fe base alloys of Fe-Cr-Ni-Co-Mo-W-V-Nb and Fe-Cr-Ni-Co-Mo systems a combined experimental-calculation technique is used. The study showed that Ti, Nb, W and Cr promote an increase in the amount of Laves phase, σ- and R-phases under aging. The explanation is given for the mechanism of alloying element influence on a Gibbs energy decrease. The hypothesis for higher thermodynamic stability of intermetallic phases in multicomponent alloys compared to binary ones is proposed. 4 refs., 2 figs., 3 tabs
