Hydraulics: Pumping-turbining is claiming a future
Creators
Description
Whereas uncertain economic conditions, energy storage under the form of hydraulic energy has not been attracting investors in Europe, this article presents the huge Swiss pumping turbining station (or pumped storage power station) located in Nant de Drance which is starting its operation, and which relies on the development of wind and solar energy to reach profitability. The author first evokes the few stations which are presently under construction in Europe, explains how these installations can become profitable, and evokes the environmental approach to the Swiss project and its different associated services
