Comprehensive research on scientific testing ground of a uranium tailing pond in Liaoning
- 1. Liaoning Provincal Nuclear and Radiation Monitoring Center, Liaoning (China)
Description
Uranium tailing pond that contains the mineral waste residue coming from uranium refining is a important supporting facility in UMM. Although the activity concentration in the waste residue has reduced, potential harms and effects will affect environment in a long time. Basing on effective environment protection, learning experiences from existing environmental improvement of decommissioning uranium tailings, study ecological restoration and put forward a realistic plan of comprehensive utilization for limited development and utilization. Ensuring achieve acceptable level, the plan will save investment as far as possible, construct humanities landscapes to add aesthetic effects in the scientific testing ground for spurring local economic development and improving social profit, and provide a new demonstration case for ecological restoration and land application of domestic uranium tailing ponds.
